Week 1:  Little Scientists

Start Date: July 5 – 9

Description:  Is your child curious and wants to know how rainbows are formed? Why do some objects sink in water and others float? Science is the study of the world around us. Scientists learn about their subject by observing, describing, and experimenting. Please join us this week as we bring out your child’s inner scientist and encourage their curious minds to explore, discover, and experiment.

Week 2:  World Music and Art (Japan and Hawaii)

Start Date: July 12 – 16

Description: Ohayōgozaimasu! That means good morning in Japanese. Join us as we explore the beautiful and rich culture of Japan. We will be learning simple origami, kanji (the art of Japanese characters) and music. Aloha! The 2nd half of our world music journey takes us to the beautiful islands of Hawaii where we will be learning traditional Hawaiin folk songs and making lots of fun crafts.

Week 3:  Lego Challenge

Start Date: July 19-23

Description:  LEGO bricks are a great toy to work the fingers as children build and even pick up LEGO pieces. Children love the thrill of building and they can do this for hours. This will encourage the development of fine motor skills and develop dexterity that can lead to better writing skills.  Group projects will inspire cooperative play and build relationships while also giving a sense of accomplishment.

Week 4:  Little Van Gogh & little Joan Miro

Start Date: July 26-30

Description: Time to get our brushes and canvases out.  Wear something comfortable and join us as we learn about: Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands, known for landscape paintings of canals, tulip fields and style. And Joan Miro, a Catalan Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramicist. Your child will be completing their own masterpieces in the styles of Vincent Van Gogh and Joan Miro.

Week 5:  Superheroes!

Start Date: August 2 – 6

Description:  We will be having lots of fun dressing up in class to be our favourite superheroes! There will be daily side quests of arts and crafts, people to save and lots of drama! Join Ms Cho, our resident heroin as she takes you around the world saving lives through her special powers of music!
